FAQ
In a nutshell.
Our rate is simple: 20 cents a banner click, with a minimum order of $20 (100 clicks).
A banner click can install your channel (if you're a channel developer), display a full screen graphic (which you can use to direct users to call, email, visit your website, or whatever..), or both (full-screen graphic with button to install channel - great for promoting your channel in more detail than the channel store allows). For you channel developers, please remember we are talking about banner clicks, not channel installs. Unfortunately we have no way to track how many channel installs result from your banner clicks.
Campaigns usually run continuously until your banner gets all the clicks you purchased. Ads must be reviewed before going live, but during business hours this usually takes just a few minutes. If you wish, you can run multiple ads in one campaign in order to see which performs best. Analytics are available instantly.
SD (standard definition) graphics are optional as Roku will just scale down the HD graphics. Ad sizes are 728 x 90 for HD and 540 x 60 for SD. Landing page graphics (an optional full-screen graphic that appears when an ad is clicked) are 1280 x 720 for HD and 720 x 480 for SD. Templates to aid in your layout can be downloaded by clicking the links in that last sentence. For questions not answered here please contact multqs at gmail
How long will my campaign run?
Until all your banner has gotten all the clicks you purchased. How long this takes depends on our traffic, how many ad campaigns are running, how well your ad performs, and other factors. There are almost always at least two campaigns running and never more than six. We are currently serving about 18000 ad displays a day. Therefore, if there are only two active campaigns, each would get about 9000 displays a day - how many clicks that generates is up to your ad, but we average around a 2% click rate. In this scenario you could expect around 180 clicks a day.
Although this currently isn't an issue, we do reserve the right to run ads at any time we want in order to maximize our revenue. For example, an ad that gets a 3% click rate makes us more per banner impression than an ad that has a 1% click thru rate. Tho this hasn't been an issue yet, it could be in the future.
Important!
We must approve your ads before they're displayed. Ads must be suitable for all audiences. Ads relating to sex, drugs, alcohol, tobacoo, or gambling will be rejected. Others will only be accepted at our discretion and may be rejected without cause. See Terms and Conditions for details.
During business hours we try to review your campaign within minutes of it being submitted.
How are ads displayed?
To keep the ads fresh and interesting we rotate them. Ads are not only displayed when the user visits but a new ad is also displayed every minute for which an ad is displayed (ads aren't always displayed) and there is user activity (a button is pressed on the remote). For example, if a user shows up and stays on the site for 2.5 minutes while actively engaging Weather4us (pressing keys on the remote) then they would see three ads (if ads are always visible): one when they first show up, another a minute later (again assuming a key has been pressed on the remote), and another a minute after that. Currently, we're averaging about 1.4 ads per visit.
FWIW, ads are also rotated for each visitor. For example visitor 1 would see ads 1,2,3,4, visitor 2 would see ads 2,3,4,1, visitor 3 would see 3,4,1,2. What this means is that each campaign shares the first ad spot equally.
Can I pick what times my ads run?
Sorry, no. We decided to keep things simple. Instead of charging different rates for different times of the day, we just charge one low rate and run your ads until your campaign is complete.
You may, however, manually pause and resume your campaign by visiting Weather4us/ads But be aware that if you pause for more than an hour your spot will be given to the next campaign waiting for an opening (if there is one) and you'll go to the end of the wait queue. So keep your "pause" to less than an hour.
